How road freight to Russia works for suppliers
Road is the best balance of speed and cost on the European and Turkish lanes. Your customer is a buyer in Russia or the CIS; we work for the shipment from your side of the border. We collect the goods from your warehouse or factory, lodge the export declaration on your behalf — the EX1 for EU countries, or a national export declaration plus T1 transit from Switzerland and Norway — and send you the MRN and the electronic exit confirmation that support zero-rating the VAT on your sale.
Every enquiry starts with a check: the HS codes and all parties are screened against EU, UK, Swiss and US sanctions before collection. We only carry goods that are not subject to sanctions and are not dual-use. We work B2B only, with consignments from 50 kg and a minimum service fee of €200.
Groupage or a dedicated truck
Groupage (LTL)
For consignments from 50 kg to a few pallets. The goods go to our warehouse in Warsaw or Vilnius, join a weekly load with other exporters’ cargo and leave in one truck. Your buyer pays only for the space used: from €850 for three pallets Warsaw → Moscow, or from €300 per pallet Vilnius → Moscow.
Dedicated truck (FTL)
From about 10–12 pallets or 15 m³, or when the date matters. The truck comes to your dock and runs without intermediate warehouses; it can also load at two or three plants on the way. From €4,500 Warsaw → Moscow, €6,200 from Slovenia, €6,500 from Italy. A euro trailer takes 13.6 loading metres — up to 33 euro pallets — and 24 tonnes.

Average door-to-door times. Groupage waits for the weekly load to close at the warehouse; a dedicated truck leaves as soon as it is loaded. Onward delivery to St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk or any other city in Russia.
The border: trailer swap or reloading
Most European road freight crosses into Belarus at Brest. There the trailer is swapped or the goods are reloaded onto a vehicle authorised for Belarus and Russia, then the truck continues to Moscow. We control the cargo along the whole route, and your buyer’s Russian customs declaration is filed in advance. The main source of variation in transit time is the queue at the border, followed by customs clearance.
From Sweden and Norway goods usually cross the Baltic by ferry to Lithuania and are consolidated in Vilnius. From Turkey the truck either takes the ferry to Sochi or Novorossiysk, or goes overland through Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Yes, on your behalf. From EU countries we lodge the EX1 and send you the MRN and the exit confirmation for your VAT records. From Switzerland and Norway we arrange the national export declaration and T1 transit through the EU; from Turkey, the Turkish export declaration.
What happens at the Belarusian border?
The trailer is swapped or the goods are reloaded onto a vehicle authorised for Belarus and Russia, then the truck continues to Moscow. Border queues are the main reason transit times vary.
