Packing and securing clothing and textiles
Clothing travels in cartons on pallets or in bales; hanging goods in containers with rails (GOH). Every piece is marked with the style number, size range and composition. Moisture protection is essential: cartons absorb moisture on the sea leg, and the consignment arrives mouldy.
Documents and permits
A declaration or certificate under TR CU 017/2011 “On the safety of light industry products”, for children’s clothing TR CU 007/2011. Chestny Znak labelling is mandatory for most categories of clothing: Data Matrix codes are ordered and applied before import, and importing unlabelled goods is prohibited.
The costly mistake made most often
Chestny Znak labelling cannot be applied in Russia after release — the goods must cross the border labelled or be labelled at a customs warehouse. A consignment without codes means return to the sender, or paid storage and relabelling at a temporary storage warehouse, which is often more expensive than the freight.
Which mode usually works out best
From Europe, clothing travels as road groupage via Poland in 7–14 days; seasonal collections by air. From Asia: LCL groupage (0.5–15 m³), or FCL for regular volumes, 30–45 days. Hanging transport costs more but saves steaming at the warehouse.
