How we ship industrial equipment
Rigging and lashing
Centre-of-gravity calculation, slinging and lashing plans for the container or platform. Timber crating and anti-corrosion protection.
HS code and duties
We choose the correct HS code and arrange TR CU certificates and permits for industrial machinery.
Installation service
Delivery “to the machine”: unloading, moving into the shop and installation by agreement, with the condition of the equipment checked at every stage.
Packing and securing industrial equipment
Production lines and units are bolted to the pallet or skids with through-bolts, not just strapped: when a truck brakes, the load on the lashing reaches 0.8 g. Timber packaging must carry the IPPC mark (ISPM 15), otherwise customs will send the cargo for fumigation or back. Lifting points and the centre of gravity are marked on the packaging before loading.
Documents and permits
Besides the invoice and packing list, you need a technical passport describing the operating principle (the HS code in chapters 84–85 is chosen from it) and a declaration or certificate of conformity under TR CU 010/2011 “On the safety of machinery and equipment”. For used equipment, a statement of the year of manufacture: the recycling fee on self-propelled machinery and the check against EU sanctions restrictions both depend on it.
The costly mistake made most often
The most expensive mistake is to declare a production line as a set of separate machines. Under General Interpretative Rule 2(a), complete equipment can be imported in several consignments under one code at one rate — but only if a classification decision from the Russian Federal Customs Service is obtained before the first delivery. Without it, each part is cleared at its own rate, and on a large line the difference runs into millions of roubles.
Which mode usually works out best
Up to 5–8 tonnes and standard dimensions: groupage or a dedicated truck from Europe, 5–12 days. Heavy and out-of-gauge units from Europe are better shipped by sea via Rotterdam in an open-top or flat-rack container, from Asia in a full container (FCL). Air is used only for urgent spare parts for a stopped line: an hour of downtime often costs more than the difference in the rate.
Export controls and sanctions
Many types of industrial equipment are listed in EU Regulation 833/2014 and the equivalent UK and US rules. We check the HS code, technical parameters and end user before quoting, and we do not ship restricted equipment.
