Packing and securing electronics
Electronics are packed in the factory cartons, and the cartons in pallet boxes with corner protectors and stretch film; humidity indicators go on the pallet. Lithium batteries inside devices are class 9 dangerous goods: they require UN3481 marking and quantity limits, and separate IATA rules apply for air.
Documents and permits
Mandatory documents are a certificate or declaration under TR CU 004/2011 (low-voltage equipment) and TR CU 020/2011 (EMC); for devices with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a cellular module, an FSB notification on encryption technology, without which customs will not release the goods.
The costly mistake made most often
A missing FSB notification for a model with a wireless module is the classic reason for a consignment to be held for several weeks: it can be obtained retroactively, but only through the manufacturer as applicant or its representative. Whether a notification exists in the Eurasian Economic Commission register must be checked by the exact model name before payment.
Which mode usually works out best
Valuable, light electronics make sense by air: 3–7 days, all-risks insurance, fewer transhipments. Large consignments (televisions, servers) go by container from Asia or by road groupage from Europe. If the goods contain lithium batteries, check whether the particular airline will accept them — otherwise road and sea remain.
Export controls and sanctions
A large part of electronics and electronic components is covered by EU, UK and US export controls and sanctions (dual-use and “common high priority” items). We screen every HS code, the end user and all parties before quoting and decline restricted goods.
