Definition
Consolidation is the collection of goods from different suppliers at one warehouse (for Tranzit3 — Vilnius and Warsaw, as well as Rotterdam) for a joint shipment. It allows even a single box to travel at the groupage rate and saves on delivery to the consolidation warehouse.
How it works in practice
Tranzit3 consolidation warehouses in Rotterdam, Vilnius and Warsaw receive goods from different suppliers, weigh and measure every package, check the marking, repack if necessary and build a single consignment for Russia. Departures are weekly; the cut-off is Friday.
For your Russian customer this means that several purchases from different factories travel on one truck with one set of documents and one customs declaration. For you as a supplier it means a simple hand-over: deliver to the warehouse (or have us collect) on the day that suits you — the warehouse “buffers” suppliers who ship on different days.
Consolidation: frequently asked questions
How long do goods stay at the consolidation warehouse?
Until the next departure — usually one to seven days. Storage at Tranzit3 warehouses (Rotterdam, Warsaw, Vilnius) is included in the price while the goods travel with us, including when a consignment is waiting for documents or for payment to the supplier. Storage is billed separately only if the goods are collected from the warehouse without being shipped.
Can goods from different countries be combined?
Yes: goods from Germany, Italy and Poland can be gathered at one warehouse and leave on one truck. This saves on part-load rates and produces one declaration instead of three.
What does the warehouse do if the wrong or damaged goods arrive?
It records the discrepancy in a report with photos on receipt and informs the customer before dispatch. This is the last point at which a claim can be raised without the cost of returning goods from Russia.
