Shipping to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from Europe: how the scheme via Rotterdam and St Petersburg works and how the EAEU single customs area saves time and money.

The EAEU single customs area

Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, together with Russia and Armenia, are members of the Eurasian Economic Union. There are no customs borders between EAEU countries: goods imported and cleared in Russia move on to Minsk, Almaty or Bishkek without a new declaration. This is the key advantage we use when building routes.

In practice, goods from Europe are cleared once — on import into Russia — and then travel freely to the final recipient in another EAEU country. Compared with a separate import into each country, the saving in time and money can be substantial.

The scheme via Rotterdam and St Petersburg

For European goods the main scheme is: consolidation at the Rotterdam port warehouse → sea freight to St Petersburg → customs clearance in Russia → road or rail to Minsk, Almaty, Astana, Bishkek or Osh. For Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan the final leg often goes by rail; for Belarus mainly by road.

Urgent consignments can travel directly by road via Poland and the Baltics, skipping the sea leg — faster, though more expensive per unit of volume.

Sanctions screening comes first

We only handle goods that are not subject to EU, UK, Swiss or US sanctions. Before we quote, we check the HS code of every item and screen all parties to the deal; if a product or a party is restricted, we decline the order, whatever the route or the price.

No. There are no customs borders between EAEU members, so goods cleared in Russia move on without a new declaration.
