Wholesale furniture from Italy: how to deliver a lot undamaged and on time

2 October 2026

Shipping wholesale furniture from Italy to your Russian customer: a dedicated truck Milan–Moscow from €6,500 in 6–8 days, or consolidation via Warsaw from €850 for 3 pallets; packing fragile and upholstered pieces, and the conformity declaration and customs clearance on the Russian side.

Italian furniture still holds a real share of the Russian market

Despite some brands leaving the market, Italian furniture remains a major part of European furniture imports to Russia: Italy’s share of furniture supply holds at around 8–9%, and 2024 estimates put Italian furniture exports to Russia at roughly $180 million. This covers home furniture as well as office and contract furniture for hotels and restaurants. We work only with companies and sole traders, the minimum service fee is €200, lots start from 50 kg, and we do not deliver personal furniture purchases — this is a wholesale service for showrooms, dealers and marketplace sellers. See our [Italy destination page](/napravlenie/italiya) and [furniture from Italy category](/seo/cargo/mebel/italiya). Shipping regions include Lombardy (Brianza, the furniture cluster near Milan), Veneto and Friuli. Contract furniture for hotels and restaurants tends to come in larger, more regular lots.

Dedicated truck or consolidation: the choice depends on lot size

For a large lot, our [EU logistics service](/usluga/logistika-po-evrosoyuzu) collects from the factory door and runs the truck to the EU–EAEU border with no intermediate warehouse. The Milan–Moscow route is about 2,900 km, 6–8 days, from €6,500 per trip. For 1–3 pallets it is better value to bring the goods to our consolidation warehouse in Warsaw and send them on as a groupage shipment: from €850 for 3 pallets to a bonded warehouse in Moscow. Fragile items such as glass and mirrors are a good reason to choose a dedicated truck even for a smaller lot, to avoid an extra transhipment.

Packing: furniture is light but bulky and fragile

With furniture, weight almost never sets the price — the rate is calculated on volume (LDM). Packing “in several layers” adds volume and cost. Wooden crates and pallets crossing the EU–EAEU border must meet the international ISPM 15 standard (heat treatment or fumigation, plus an IPPC stamp on every unit of packaging) — a missing stamp is a frequent cause of delay at the border. For upholstered furniture, glass and mirrors, cargo insurance from 0.3% of the declared value covers damage from handling or re-coupling in a way that a carrier’s limited CMR liability does not.

Customs clearance on the Russian side: TR CU 025/2012

Furniture products entering the EAEU are subject to mandatory conformity assessment under technical regulation TR CU 025/2012 “On the safety of furniture products” — for most categories in the form of a declaration of conformity, arranged by the importer before the goods are released onto the market. The regulation covers mechanical and chemical safety, the strength of joints, structural stability and labelling. We arrange [customs clearance](/usluga/customs) end to end — customs declaration, duties, VAT and the conformity declaration. The HS code depends on the material (solid wood, MDF, upholstered metal frame) — a misclassification can delay the whole lot. We do not carry sanctioned goods and check classification against TARIC in advance. It is worth confirming the factory already has its technical documentation ready before you pay the order.

Sanctions screening comes first

We only handle goods that are not subject to EU, UK, Swiss or US sanctions. Before we quote, we check the HS code of every item and screen all parties to the deal; if a product or a party is restricted, we decline the order, whatever the route or the price.

Terms: wholesale only, €200 minimum, no personal orders

We work only with companies and sole traders, lots from 50 kg, minimum €200. We do not deliver personal furniture for a private home. For an urgent small item — a fabric or fitting sample — [air freight](/perevozki/avia) is available: 2–8 days by chargeable weight, rates on request, no weight limit. For furniture itself, air freight is not economical because of the volume involved.

Worked example: sofas and dining sets from Brianza

OptionPriceTimingVerdict
Dedicated truck, Milan – Moscowfrom €6,5006–8 daysNo transhipment — the right choice when glass is involved
Consolidation via Warsaw (3 pallets)from €850 + separate Brianza–Warsaw leg—Better value for about 6–7 LDM without sofas

Hypothetical lot: a dealer orders 4 sofas plus 3 glass-topped dining sets from a factory in Monza e Brianza near Milan, about 18 LDM — a substantial share of a trailer. A dedicated truck is justified here, with no transhipment, which matters for the glass. For roughly half that volume (around 6–7 LDM, no sofas), consolidation via Warsaw is usually the better value. Dealers who order regularly tend to build up orders to a full dedicated truck, which is cheaper and safer for fragile pieces.

Questions and answers

Can furniture be collected from several factories on one trip?

Yes, additional pickups across Lombardy, Veneto or Friuli can be added for a surcharge.

Do we need a declaration for every lot, or one for the whole range?

The TR CU 025/2012 declaration covers specific products and remains valid for the full production run under that documentation; repeat lots of the same model clear faster.

What if the packaging has no ISPM 15 stamp?

Check before dispatch — crates without an IPPC stamp risk being held at the EU–EAEU border.

Do you deliver personal furniture for a home?

No, we work only with companies and sole traders, lots from 50 kg.

How long does the conformity declaration take?

From a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on how ready the factory’s technical documentation is; allow extra time for a first shipment of a new model.
