When to choose air

Rail is the baseline mode for a regular flow: a predictable 16–35 days, a tariff several times lower, and no aviation restrictions on batteries or cargo composition.

A common working pattern is the “split”: 10–20% of the consignment flies and fills the shelf, the rest goes by train. It costs only a few per cent more than a plain rail delivery, but it fully closes your customer’s cash-flow gap on the goods.

Light, bulky cargo flies “on volume”, so accurate dimensions matter before we quote. For urgent consignments of any weight, it is the fastest legal option — 3–10 days including clearance.
Can goods with batteries be sent by air?
With restrictions: lithium batteries are dangerous goods, with limits on capacity, packaging and airlines — some carriers do not accept them at all. Tell us about batteries at the quotation stage: sometimes the right solution is to send the battery part of the consignment by surface and the rest by air.
When does the air premium pay off?
Calculate the value of time: the margin the goods generate in 2–3 weeks of sales versus the freight difference. For goods with a high value per kilogram (electronics, optics, components), air is regularly the better deal within a single sales cycle.
What is the minimum consignment for air from China?
