Shipping goods from Shanghai to Russia

Shanghai is China’s business capital and the world’s largest container port. We ship by sea, rail and air from Yangshan and Pudong and clear the goods through Russian customs for your buyer.

Shanghai: east coast, Yangtze estuary

Shanghai is China’s business capital and the world’s largest container port. A large share of industrial exports passes through it: equipment, machine tools, electronics and the output of factories across the Yangtze Delta — Suzhou, Wuxi, Kunshan.

For manufacturers in Shanghai and the Delta whose customers are Russian companies, we arrange transport and Russian customs clearance, with HS classification agreed before shipment.

What is shipped from Shanghai

Regional specialisation

Equipment and machine tools, electronics, chemicals, medical devices and branded manufacturing.

Business and exhibition centre

China’s largest (CIIE and others).

Yangtze Delta industrial zones

Suzhou, Wuxi, Kunshan.

How shipping is organised

All four schemes are available from Shanghai: sea from Yangshan (direct services to Vladivostok and via Suez to western Russia), rail through the region’s terminals, and air from Pudong, one of the world’s largest cargo airports. For equipment and machine tools we help with HS classification (duty can differ several-fold between neighbouring codes) and check whether an FSB notification is needed for units with encryption.

Export points: the Port of Shanghai (Yangshan), the world’s largest container port, and Pudong Airport.

Logistics tip

Shanghai is the world’s busiest port, and in peak months (October–December) the queue for vessel departure adds up to a week to the transit time. For seasonal deliveries, ship 2–3 weeks earlier than the calculated date.

Export controls

Machine tools, industrial equipment and electronics are frequently covered by EU, UK and US export controls and sanctions. We screen the HS codes, the end user and all parties before quoting and do not ship restricted items.

Frequently asked questions: shipping from Shanghai

How long does delivery from Shanghai to Moscow take?

By rail 18–28 days, by sea 25–40 days, and by air for urgent consignments 3–8 days. The exact time depends on the consolidation schedule and on customs clearance — we calculate it for your consignment.

How much does shipping from Shanghai cost?

Indicative turnkey rates: rail groupage on request (per piece or pallet), sea + rail multimodal on request (calculated by weight and volume), air by volumetric weight with a minimum order of €200. The China shipping calculator gives a quick estimate for your weight and volume; we send an exact rate within 2 hours.

Can the Russian buyer pay our invoice through you?

Yes. If your Russian customer appoints us as agent, we can pay your invoice in CNY or USD under an agency agreement, receive and check the goods at the consolidation warehouse (the Port of Shanghai (Yangshan), the world’s largest container port, and Pudong Airport), and combine purchases from several suppliers into one consignment with a single set of documents. Payments go only through regular banking channels and only for goods that pass sanctions screening.

What is the minimum consignment from Shanghai?

Road, rail and sea shipments from 50 kg (groupage, pallets, containers). Air freight has no weight limit. The minimum service fee is €200.

What documents do you need from the supplier?

A commercial invoice and a packing list with weights and dimensions per piece, plus product descriptions good enough for HS classification. For goods subject to Russian certification or Chestny Znak labelling we tell you in advance what has to be done before dispatch.
