Shipping goods from the UK to Russia

Since leaving the EU, the UK makes a full export declaration of its own, and on the road route the goods also need transit through the European Union — two sets of formalities instead of one. Many British suppliers have little experience of exporting outside the EU, so we put the document set together for you. We collect from your premises in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool or Leeds and send the goods by ferry or through the tunnel to Rotterdam for consolidation.

By sea, cargo leaves via Southampton, Felixstowe or Harwich and runs via Rotterdam to St Petersburg in 16–22 days. By road, via the Channel Tunnel and Warsaw, Moscow is 8–12 days away. Your Russian customer receives the goods cleared through Russian customs and delivered. We work B2B only, from 50 kg per shipment (air freight has no weight limit), with a minimum service fee of €200.

What suppliers ship from the UK to Russia

British suppliers typically ship industrial components and instruments from the Midlands, laboratory and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals (transported under GDP conditions), premium automotive parts, textiles, and whisky and food products. Pharmaceuticals and medical goods need controlled storage conditions throughout. UK sanctions lists are separate from the EU ones, so we check both the goods and the counterparty against UK rules before payment and collection.

Where we collect from the UK

London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and any other address.

Export formalities

UK exports are declared in the British CDS system rather than the EU AES, and the shipper needs a UK EORI number. When the goods move across the EU by road, a T1 transit document covers that leg. We prepare the export declaration and the transit for you and send you the export evidence for your VAT records. UK sanctions are autonomous and do not mirror the EU’s, so the goods and every party are screened separately under UK, EU, Swiss and US lists.

How it works for you as a supplier

  1. 1Quote within 2 hours
Send the invoice or packing list — we check the HS codes against EU sanctions lists and quote transport, export formalities and customs clearance in Russia.
  2. 2Collection from your premises
We pick up the goods from your warehouse or factory and take them to our consolidation warehouse or load a dedicated truck.
  3. 3Export declaration
We lodge the export declaration on your behalf and send you the MRN and the proof of exit — the basis for zero-rating VAT.
  4. 4Delivery to your customer
Border crossing, customs clearance in Russia and delivery to your buyer’s warehouse; tracking at every stage.

Practical tips

  • Make sure your company has a UK EORI number before the first shipment — the export declaration cannot be lodged without it.
  • Do not assume that EU sanctions screening covers you: UK lists are separate, so we check your goods and your buyer against them before you take payment.
  • If you have not exported outside the EU before, let us assemble the document set rather than preparing it from scratch yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How long does shipping from the UK to Russia take?

By road via the Channel Tunnel and Warsaw, 8–12 days to Moscow. By sea via Rotterdam, 16–22 days to St Petersburg.

How can my Russian customer pay a UK supplier?

Your customer can use our supplier-payment service: they pay a payment agent under an agency agreement, and a partner company resident in the EU pays your invoice by an ordinary bank transfer, quoting your invoice number. Payments for sanctioned goods or to listed parties are not made.

What export paperwork is needed from the UK?

A UK export declaration in CDS (your UK EORI number is required), a commercial invoice, packing list and HS codes, plus a T1 transit document if the goods cross the EU by road. We prepare these on your behalf.

Which sanctions lists do you check?

UK, EU, Swiss and US lists. UK sanctions are autonomous, so every HS code and party is screened separately under UK rules. Restricted and dual-use goods are declined.
